Born in Taranaki, Aithnia has always drawn and painted and held the ambition to become 'an artist'.

With completion of an Arts Certificate at the Practical ARt Centre in New Plymouth she developed the confidence to continue pursuing this ambition.

Her style is absolutely naive, totally unaffected by intellectual intention and includes images from nature: coastal and fishing scenes, flowers, gardens, parks and people enjoying their leisure activities.

Her art has continued to evolve from the earlier 'fine arts' pointillism, followed by the later denser application of media using rollers, brushes and fingers and the incorporation of mixed media in more recent times.
