Biographical notes:
I was born in Wellington 1949, and spent my childhood in Wellington and Christchurch. As an adult I took up painting seriously during my time in Mahia Peninsula working as a commercial fisherman. I painted mainly seascapes, in a surrealist style of my own. I worked as a joiner and later as a carpenter with the Conservation department of the National Art Gallery in Wellington. I married and we had a child during this perios. I moved to South Taranaki and started painting full-time in 1986. I now life in Okato, North Taranaki, close to the sea and the mountain.
I paint what I feel and see. My influences are surrealism and abstract-expressionism.
I use oil mostly, and mixed media and collage. My prints are reduction wood cut. My subject matter ranges from seascape and landscape to inner journey expressions.
