Clive Tucker began his career in clay at a college in England, possibly as early as 1987.
Sculpting the clay by hand was his focus. There the story nearly ends when Tucker got a "proper" job as a manager at a
local factory. After three years of excitement in the window business, he left for Asia. More than a year later Tucker
turns up again in the clay community. This time in Durness as apprentice to Lotte Glob on the north coast of Scotland.
Here he stayed and learnt the very precious art of throwing from an accomplished master.
In 1994, after having moved to Canada, Tucker sold a teapot for forty dollars in Oakville, Ontario. It was a momentous
event. Soon he became a self-sufficient potter working out of the Burlington Art Centre in Burlington, Ont. He made
a very successful line of pottery, which was wholesaled to over a dozen shops from Toronto to Thunder Bay.
In 1998 he moved to Vancouver to attend Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design. There he spent wonderful years without
the cares and woes of earning a living from his work. Upon graduating he was invited to be Artist in Residence at the
Port Moody Art Centre. It is from this base that he continues to create unique and innovative artwork.
