The inspiration for my Earth Series

My works reflect the respect and gratitude I feel to be part of such a complex and beautiful planet.

I return now to my roots, reaching into the earth; searching, gathering and building art pieces which honour our ancestors and the mystery of nature.

  Marguerita Iremonger - profile
Marguerita is a full-time artist working in a peaceful coastal studio with her photographer/writer partner. Winning the prestigious Taranaki White Pages Art Award 2006 places her winning painting on the front cover of Taranaki's 92,000 phone directories.

She attended Otago Polytechnic Art School in the early 1970s but has been literally painting and drawing since she was a child.

Marguerita completed a successful series of pastel portraits before her two children were born in the late 70s when she took time out to educate them at home. Later, she joined a New Plymouth based art group, Artizone, exhibiting several times her series of impressionist flower paintings. These paintings, inspired by her home-gardens at that time, firmly established Marguerita as a colourist.

She is now creating an Earth series in acrylic and mixed media. Marguerita says, "These works pay respect to our ancestors and show the interconnectedness of the natural and spiritual elements of the land in which I live."

Her works hang in collections around the world.
